What's the best alternative to salon eyelash extensions?

I discovered salon eyelash extensions when I was 21 years old, living la vida in London and working a job with a very comfy salary. I instantly fell in love with them and the confidence they gave me, and after my first set I honestly couldn't imagine life without them!

Fast-forward a couple of years, and the pandemic struck. One by one by lash extensions fell out leaving me looking like a naked mole rat - I'll spare you the evidence pics... So, I took to the internet to see what options were available lash obsessed girlies like me who could no longer get lash appointments due to the restrictions and voila, a few options appeared!

Magnetic Strip Lashes

The first was reusable magnetic strip lashes, which use a magnetic eyeliner to attach above to your eyelid along the lash line. Their website claimed they were easy to apply with a wide range of natural-looking false lashes, so *ding* these were straight in my basket.

No hate, but these are at the bottom of my pyramid. I'm not an eyeliner girly, and so this method really didn't work for me. I ended up drawing wobbly lines onto my eyelid, then having to redraw until I wound up looking like Amy Winehouse when I was really after a natural, soft and feminine look. They don't suit a no-makeup or a clean makeup look, but if you're going for a full-glam look these would work better. I personally didn't find they had much sticking power, and the corners of the lashes would lift really easily and quickly.

Lastly, like traditional strip lashes, when you take off your makeup at the end of the day you also take off your lashes. I much prefer to be a "I woke up like this" kind of gal, and reapplying them every morning was very time consuming.
